Beckford broke the deadlock after 21 minutes when he capitalised on slack defending to head home Leon Osman's cross for his ninth goal of the season.
Everton skipper Neville added a second with a fine rising shot past Wayne Hennessey six minutes before the break.

Don't treat us as "untouchables", Afridi to BCCI

New Delhi: Shahid Afridi feels deeply hurt and has appealed to the Indian Cricket Board that Pakistan players shouldn`t be treated as "untouchables" when it comes to including them in the cash-rich Indian Premier League.

"It is high time that Pakistani cricketers should also get a place in IPL. For three seasons including the current one, we haven`t been a part of the IPL. We have no problems playing in India as we have just played a World Cup semi-final there. We are deeply hurt that they are treating us like `untouchables`," Afridi said.

IPL-4 to match advertising revenues from ICC World Cup 2011

NEW DELHI/KOLKATA: If the World Cup was a box-office hit, IPL season 4 is set to be a blockbuster. The more glamorous cricketing extravaganza is expected to match, if not exceed the just concluded tournament's advertisement revenues when it gets rolling next week.

SET Max, the official broadcaster of the Indian Premiere League (IPL), is likely to earn over Rs 1,000 crore from the fourth season of the tournament, an official at the channel said requesting anonymity.

West Ham Examine Claim Of Racist Abuse At Upton Park

West Ham are investigating a report that the families of Victor Obinna and Frederic Piquionne were racially abused by fans at Upton Park on Saturday.

The pair, originally from Nigeria and New Caledonia respectively, appeared as West Ham substitutes in the 4-2 defeat by Manchester United.

West Ham are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses.

They said in a statement that anyone found guilty of racial abuse "will be dealt with appropriately".

Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has stepped down from his post as one-day and Twenty20 skipper with immediate effect.
